Many of you have asked us great questions now that Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have denied state and federal permits to build the proposed marina. Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Army Corps) and the State of Michigan have denied NorthShore of Saugatuck’s applications for federal and state permits to build its proposed marina at the Kalamazoo River Mouth.

The Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance commends Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) decision to deny NorthShore of Saugatuck’s applications for permits to build a marina near the mouth of the Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck Township.

Allegan County Circuit Court Judge Antkoviak issued his written order last week partially denying the motion filed by Saugatuck Township and argued before the judge on December 11, 2023.

The Saugatuck Township Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) will begin hearings next month to determine whether the Coastal Alliance has standing to challenge the permits the Township granted in 2017 for the proposed marina.
